In this session Bre Kauffman, Registered Dietitian, and Jeanette Barber, Certified Health Coach will discuss the relationship between diet and mental health, and how food choices impact more than just our physical health; they have a direct impact on our mental well-being. Bre and Jeanette will also discuss the impact consistent exercise can have on mood, cognition and overall mental health and the physiological changes in the brain that occur in the process. Employers will have the opportunity to reflect on strategies to promote mental well-being in the workplace.

Objectives:

1. Explore the connection between food and the gut-brain axis.
2. Understand the impact that the standard American diet and Mediterranean diet can have on mental health.
3. Identify how our food choices make us feel.
4. Describe the psychological benefits gained through exercise and movement.
5. List and discuss ways to support employees in creating food and fitness habits that promote mental wellbeing.
